Japanese teen becomes 'champion of spin'
A teenager in Japan has won an award for pen-spinning, it has emerged.
Reports have confirmed that the 16-year-old Ryuki Omura has been declared the country's national champion at pen spinning - a title awarded by the Pen Spinning Association Japan.
According to pentrix.com, those new to pen spinning should start off with a number of fundamental moves, including one where the pen is caused to jump between two fingers.
"The most important thing is to make the combination of tricks as smooth as possible," said Mitsuhiro Nakamata, a representative of the association.
"Pens are always around, so you can practice and enjoy pen-spinning anytime, anywhere."
Initially competing with a total of 276 other contestants via video, Mr Omura won the competition after running against 16 other finalists.
During the final, contestants each had to give a live performance in front of a crowd of onlookers.
