Sunday Times - John Kampfner
John wanted head to Hokkaido which is largely known for its fantastic skiing and winter sports, but he wanted to go there during the summer. The intention was to have a bit of a road trip in the open countryside amongst the mountains of the northern island and take in some of the incredible summer festivals that take place throughout Japan. One of the highlights was the Sansa Festival in Morioka, traditional dress and a lot of Taiko drums.
