Akie Abe joins gay pride in Shibuya
Japan's first lady made headlines last weekend (April 27th) when she joined Tokyo's annual gay pride parade in Shibuya, climbing atop a float alongside a drag queen to show her support for sexual minorities.
Akie Abe wore a white suit as she joined some 3,000 participants in the event through one of the city's trendiest entertainment and shopping districts.
"I want to help build a society where anyone can conduct happy, enriched lives without facing discrimination," she wrote on her Facebook page, following the gay pride march.
