Tokyo tops index as most expensive city to live in
There has often been debate about which is the most expensive city in the world in which to live, and a new index has ended the argument.
According to the Worldwide cost of living index 2013, which is compiled by the Economist Intelligence Unit, the city which will leave you struggling to find the cash to live in is Tokyo.
Zurich previously topped the list in 2011, but Tokyo has now risen to be the most expensive of 139 cities cited by the index.
The Economist Intelligence Unit states that "this is a familiar position for the Japanese capital which has been the world's most expensive city for all but a handful of the last 20 years".
It states that since 1992 Tokyo has been the most expensive city in which to live in all but six years.
Japan is clearly a costly country as Osaka came in as the second most expensive city in which to reside.
