Russian figure-skating pair wins Japan's NHK Trophy
The NHK Trophy on Sunday (November 25th) saw Russia's Yuri Larionov and Vera Bazarova win the pairs in the free skate.
Skating to "Spartacus", they claimed victory by scoring 192.02 and winning by more than 11 points over their nearest rivals.
This means that the couple can now compete in December's Grand Prix Final held in Sochi, which is situated on the Black Sea coast near the border of Georgia and Russia.
"This is the first time for us to win a Grand Prix event at the senior level. There were a few mistakes with our jumps and that is something we have to work on. We are also happy to qualify for the Grand Prix Final in Russia," stated Ms Bazarova.
Performing to "Queen Medley", Dylan Moscovitch and Kirsten Moore-Towers, the Canadian team, won second place with 180.63, which also won the couple a place in the Grand Prix Final.
