Burger King Japan creates 1,050 bacon strip Whopper

When Burger King launched a new promotion to upgrade Whoppers with 15 strips of bacon for 100 yen (76p), it probably did not expect one Japanese man to buy 7,000 yen's worth.

Mr Sato, a columnist for Japan's Rocket News 24, thought that the deal was too good to turn down and after getting staff at his local Burger King to upgrade his Whopper with 105 strips, thought he would see how far he could go.

After struggling his way through the first burger, the next day he bought a burger with a staggering 1,050 strips of bacon.

"This is what real hamburger lovers eat," said Mr Sato.

"Ten strips? One hundred strips? Like that's enough. A real man needs 1,050 strips of bacon."

Weighing a monstrous 2.7kg and containing around 14,300 calories, the pile of bacon stood more than 20cm high.

Unsurprisingly, Mr Sato didn't manage to make his way through the entire thing, despite his best endeavours.
