Wasps rugby player heads to Japan
A London Wasps rugby player has been linked with a move to Japan to play for the Mitsubishi Dynamos.
Dave Walder, the former Newcastle fly-half, has yet to confirm the name of the new club he will play for but talks are expected to be completed shortly.
"I have really enjoyed my five years at Wasps but I am now eager for a new challenge, both on and off the field. I am excited about the future but my focus for now remains fully on the club and the run-in," said the 32-year-old.
Meanwhile, London Wasps have signed two other fly-halves, Nicky Robinson from Gloucester and Exeter's Ryan Davis. It is expected that will join the club in the summer on two-year contract deals.
Rugby Union has been played in Japan for more than a century and has continued to develop support from grassroots players and within schools.
