Exploring Kawane
Kawane Honcho is a very pretty little town tucked away in a
rural valley in Shizuoka prefecture. If you're a fan of fresh air, idyllic
landscapes or a quaint pace of life, you'll love Kawane. A day's visit to the
town will see you marvelling at the immaculate tea fields nearby, and sampling
some of the revered Sencha green tea grown in the area.
After, head back into town to try your hand at local crafts
including indigo dyeing, and support the local community by taking lunch at
Acai restaurant, a farmhouse that has been operating for over 280 years within
the same lovely family. A day spent exploring Kawane is ideal if you're looking
to leave the hubbub of Japan's cities behind for a little while, and instead
enjoy a gentler pace of life in a beautiful location.
