Japan notes rise in all-male trips to Disneyland
Japan is easily one of the best places in the world to celebrate Disney, with not one but two resorts based around the film company's classic animations to be found in the nation's capital city of Tokyo.
And while meeting Mickey and Minnie has always been a popular activity with families, couples and groups of friends, the marketing team has noticed a rather unexpected trend emerging in recent months.
According to Tokyo Disneyland, there has been a dramatic uptick in the number of all-male groups heading to the theme park for a day out with the lads - a trend they have never witnessed before.
Previously, single-sex excursions have almost always been teenage and adult women who return to the park time and time again in order to ride Space Mountain and come face to face with their favourite characters from Mulan, Frozen, Beauty and the Beast, Finding Nemo and more.
The trend of all-male groups has even attributed its own name: Danshi Disney, which translates literally into 'boys' Disney.
Both Disneyland Tokyo and SeaDisney are fantastic attractions for those who feel the need to get their theme park fix while in Japan, with attractions including dizzying roller coasters, sparkling shows and all-round fun that can be enjoyed no matter who you're with.
Access to both parks is extremely easy from the centre of the capital, with dedicated trains running from Tokyo Station to each of the venues. Tickets can be purchased online in advance or on the day.
If you fancy a lads day out elsewhere, other excellent theme parks in Japan include the excellent Universal Studios in Osaka, Edo Wonderland Nikko in Tochigi and Toei Kyoto Studio Park in Kyoto.
