Ms Akiko commented: "I'm a big fan and I got so excited about meeting him I could not sleep last night."
At a news conference to promote the film, Smith said: "It's very terrifying for me as an artist to make a movie with no aliens, no explosions and no special effects."
Smith got married to actress Jada Pinkett Smith in 1997 with whom he has two children.
His other films include Hancock, The Pursuit of Happyness, Men in Black, Wild Wild West and Enemy of State.
