Japanese virtual singer to join Gaga tour
US singing songstress Lady Gaga has made headlines following her announcement on Twitter last week that Japanese computer-generated pop star Hatsune Miku will join her for a portion of her ARTPOP Ball tour later this year.
The Born This Way singer broke the news over the microblogging platform, writing: "My favourite digital pop star Hatsune Miku is opening The ARTPOP Ball from May 6-June 3!
"Look how cute she is!" she added, linking to a video of the performer.
Developed in collaboration with a manga comic artist, a plethora of software developers and a vast online community, the virtual singer boasts an impressive backstory that includes such highlights as being born on another planet.
Even her voice is the product of software code and she performs to her fans on impressive stages made up of giant screens and impressive hologram technology.
Thanks to her attractive image and a string of pop hit sensations, she has become one of the most popular J-pop stars to emerge on the scene in recent years.
