In Japan Entertainment News,
Marvel Avengers to become anime
Marvel's Avengers series will be transformed into an anime, scheduled for nationwide release in the spring of 2014 under the title 'Disk Wars: Avengers'.
According to Walt Disney Japan, which made the announcement and owns the rights to Marvel Comics' creations, the new take on the franchise will have a distinctly Japanese flair and feature the same group of heroes as the western incarnation.
Villains in the Avengers universe are apprehended using small portable prison cells known as disks, hence the name.
This is not the first time Disney has marketed western-style cartoons towards a Japanese audience. The company previously aired an altered version of the Disney cartoon Lilo and Stitch that saw Lilo replaced with Japanese native Yuna.
Those wishing to experience Japan's enthusiasm for anime and manga should explore the comic cafes of Akihabara, Tokyo's electric town, which features a number of film and book purveyors geared exclusively towards cartoons.
