Inside Japan launches tsunami relief fund
Japan travel specialist Inside Japan Tours (IJT) has set up a dedicated fund with the aim of raising £25,000 to support relief efforts in the devastated Tohoku region.
The company is appealing for donations on behalf of the Japanese charity Civic Force, which is working directly with people most affected by last week's tsunami.
Having been in operation for ten years, IJT is keen to give something back to the Japanese people, who have always shown "kindness and hospitality", the tour company said.
It is currently estimated that as many as half a million people have been left homeless by the earthquake, which measured 9.0 on the Richter scale, and consequent tsunami that struck last Friday (March 11th).
Alastair Donnelly, director of Inside Japan Tours, said: "We want to do everything we can to support the intensive efforts on the ground to relieve the suffering of the hundreds of thousands of Japanese who have had their lives devastated by this tragedy."
Those wishing to donate to the Inside Japan fund can visit the company's Just Giving page or you can keep up-to-date with the latest developments in the country by visiting the Inside Japan Facebook page
