The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Broomfield, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan holidays and tours.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.

Originally from Gifu Prefecture, famous for the alpine town of Takayama and the beautiful thatched houses of Shirakawa-go, Yu is part of our operations team in Nagoya.

Yu joined our Nagoya team in 2016, adding to our ever-growing wealth of experience and expertise on the ground in Japan. Yu and her colleagues are the ones responsible for booking your train tickets, making your restaurant reservations, keeping an eye on new openings and events, and generally making sure that your holiday is well-oiled, seamlessly executed and fabulous.

Before joining Inside Japan Tours, Yu worked for two years at a tour operator in London - where she got to see things from the other side, helping Japanese tourists with their holidays in the UK! She also spent some time as a cultural ambassador in the north of England, where she made it into the local papers for her work teaching primary school pupils in County Durham about Japanese culture. Though she enjoyed living in England, eventually the lure of Japanese konbini (convenience stores), hot Royal Milk Tea, sushi, and Takenoko No Sato (chocolate snacks) brought her back to Japan.

When she's not working behind the scenes to deliver fantastic holidays to Japan, Yu is a big music fan and loves heading out to gigs - and like the rest of us, she's passionate about travel and food.

Where is your favourite place in Japan and why?

It's a difficult question, but I'd have to say Kobe. It's such a beautiful, sophisticated city that I can hardly believe there was such a big earthquake there 20 years ago. With its European-style buildings and Chinatown, it has quite a different atmosphere from many Japanese cities. The main reason I like it is the fantastic restaurant and caf� scene (Kobe is famous in Japan for its bread and cakes).
