Honeymoon Elegance invites you to discover how some of these communities have transformed forgotten spaces into world-class art destinations, where creativity exists in harmony with nature, architecture, and the surrounding landscape. Your journey begins in Tokyo and Kyoto, Japan’s present and former imperial capitals. From a traditional wedding kimono photoshoot to an intimate evening with a maiko, and time spent exploring UNESCO-listed temples and shrines, your first days offer a captivating introduction to Japan’s rich cultural heritage.
The focus then shifts to the art islands of the Seto Inland Sea. Over recent decades, Naoshima has become a global centre for contemporary art and design, attracting renowned figures such as architect Tadao Ando and artist Yayoi Kusama. Supported by the Benesse Art Site project, the island showcases a remarkable collection of museums, installations, and architectural works seamlessly integrated into the landscape.
From the tranquillity of the Seto Inland Sea, continue west to Kyushu, Japan’s third-largest island. In Fukuoka, a vibrant waterfront city, evenings are spent sampling local specialities at atmospheric open-air yatai stalls.
In Nagasaki, discover a city shaped by centuries of international exchange. During Japan’s period of isolation, it remained the country’s sole gateway to foreign trade, creating a unique blend of Japanese, Chinese, and European influences still reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and culture today.
Together, these destinations create a honeymoon rich in art, culture, and discovery, marking the beginning of your next chapter together and creating memories to last a lifetime.

Day 3-5
Capture your honeymoon with a traditional wedding kimono photoshoot, creating timeless memories together. Meet a Kyoto maiko for a rare glimpse into her world, then spend a day with an Insider guide discovering Kyoto's hidden temples, tranquil gardens, and lesser-known corners away from the crowds.
Experience the elegance of a traditional Japanese wedding kimono photoshoot in Kyoto. Dressed in a white silk shiromuku and formal black montsuki kimono, you'll be styled by specialists in a historic machiya townhouse before taking part in elements of a traditional ceremony. A professional photographer will capture the experience, creating lasting memories of your honeymoon. Later, enjoy an intimate evening in Gion, where you'll meet a Kyoto maiko at a private ryotei. Through conversation and entertainment, gain a rare insight into this centuries-old cultural tradition that continues to flourish today.

Day 6-7
Time to slow down and embrace the quiet beauty of the Seto Inland Sea. Travel by first-class bullet train and private boat to Naoshima, then explore by e-bike, discovering world-class museums and installations where art, architecture, and nature come together in remarkable harmony.
Naoshima is synonymous with contemporary art and is often credited as a pioneer of Japan's island art movement. Home to masterpieces by Claude Monet and immersive works by James Turrell, the island is also defined by the visionary architecture of Tadao Ando, most notably at the Chichu Art Museum and Benesse Art Site. Here, art extends far beyond gallery walls. As you explore the island, you'll encounter world-class installations scattered across quiet beaches, hidden within traditional village homes, and seamlessly woven into the landscape itself. Each artwork is revealed gradually, encouraging a slower pace and a deeper connection with the island's unique blend of creativity, nature, and place.
Suggested Accommodation: Naoshima Ryokan Roka

Day 8-9
Slow down and savour the beauty of the Seto Inland Sea. Cycle sections of the spectacular Shimanami Kaido with your guide, crossing island-hopping suspension bridges and enjoying coastal views. A private sunset cruise, exquisite dinners, and soothing onsen provide the perfect way to unwind.
If you are a beginner then you may like to enjoy the casual route, where your guide will take you to Omishima island, through sunset beach and lemon valley. More advanced routes will introduce you to “Kone-island” close to where you will stay. If cycling isn't for you, we're happy to tailor a more relaxed experience, such as Zen meditation and time to unwind.
Suggested Accommodation: Azumi Setoda

Day 10
As evening falls, Fukuoka truly comes to life. Its famous yatai, open-air food stalls that line the streets, create a warm and sociable atmosphere. Pull up a seat beside the locals and sample regional favourites, from freshly grilled skewers to bowls of rich Hakata ramen.
Your journey continues with a one-night stay in Fukuoka, Kyushu's lively gateway city, known for its relaxed energy and outstanding food scene. Sitting along the coast, the city has a youthful, easy-going feel that offers a refreshing contrast to Japan's larger, more fast-paced capitals. It's an experience that feels spontaneous and fun, where conversation flows easily and the energy of the city draws you in. Whether you're sharing dishes, trying something new, or simply soaking up the atmosphere, Fukuoka offers a memorable evening that feels relaxed, authentic, and full of character. If time allows, we can extend your stay with an additional night, giving you the opportunity to explore more of the city and its surrounding areas at a relaxed pace.
Suggested Accommodation: The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka

Day 11-12
Nagasaki's stories unfold during a dedicated one-day History and Culture private tour. During Japan's period of isolation (sakoku), when foreign contact was tightly controlled, the city remained the country's only gateway to the outside world, open to limited trade with the Dutch and Chinese.
Today, its atmosphere and architecture still reflect this unique history, with layers of cultural influence visible throughout. As you explore, these stories are brought to life, offering insight into the people, events, and exchanges that shaped not only Nagasaki, but Japan as a whole. It's a place that invites quiet reflection, where past and present sit side by side, adding depth and meaning to your journey together.
Suggested Accommodation: Hotel Indigo Nagasaki Glover Street

On your day of departure, you will be collected from your hotel and transferred directly to either of Tokyo's international airports. If time allows, we recommend extending your stay with an additional night or two to explore Tokyo at a more relaxed pace, perfect for last-minute shopping, from the luxury boutiques of Ginza to the stylish streets of Omotesando and the vibrant neighbourhoods of Shibuya, before your journey home.
