Tokyo is home to Asia's Best Restaurant

Fans of Asian food will no doubt be interested to hear that Tokyo is home to Asia's Best Restaurant, in the form of Les Creations de Narisawa.

The eatery came first in Asia's 50 Best Restaurants competition, an event organised by Restaurant magazine.

Chef and owner Yoshihiro Narisawa said that he was "surprised" to win but added "we continue to do our best for customers. This doesn't happen in one day; Japanese dining has continued to grow over the years and our strong dining culture has led to this day".

The competition is judged by 900 industry experts from around the world and the organisers state "what constitutes 'best' is left to the judgement of these trusted and well-travelled gourmets".

Narisawa also won the best restaurant in Japan accolade and was described as using "refined techniques blended with a reverence for nature".

Head chef Narisawa uses French cooking techniques and teams this expertise with Japanese ingredients.

The competition organiser's suggest that the restaurant's standout dish is the wagyu rump roast marinated in leek, basted in olive oil and then carbonised on the outside.
