BlackBerry won't launch new phone in Japan
Japanese residents who want to get their hands on a BlackBerry smartphone will be out of luck as the telecommunications and wireless giant has announced it will no longer be selling its products in Japan.
While existing users will be offered support for their devices, no new phones will be produced for the Japanese market.
This means that the brand's latest handsets, the Z10 and the Q10, will be unavailable to consumers resident in the Asian country.
Reuters reported that the company was finding it difficult to fit the bill for modifying the operating system for the Japanese language.
It also stated that McDonald's market share in Japan had dipped from five per cent to just 0.3 per cent.
Following the release of the Canadian company's latest phones, Thorsten Heins, president and CEO, said: "In the UK, we have seen close to three times our best performance ever for the first week of sales for a BlackBerry smartphone."
