1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
This was actually the 3rd time we have used IJ. Again we went for a bespoke tour. Generally it is quite an expensive holiday but it is very true to say you get what you pay for. IJ provide a very detailed pack of your itenary. The travel consultant spends a lot of time putting this together and ensuring it meets your travel wishes. At your first stop you get all the train and bus tickets you need for all the main transfers you will do. This alone saves you so much time it makes the price worth it. Hotels were excellent including the Ryokans and it should be noted that everywhere we stayed catered very well for us even though we were vegetarian. But were IJ really excelled is when things went wrong. Unfortunately we had to cut our trip short due to a severe illness in the family. IJ immediately rearranged hotels for us, tracked down our luggage which was in transit and working across 2 time zones, arranged flights for us back to the UK. I cannot thank Inside Japan (or the hotels in Japan) enough for the help they provided us. When your world is falling in around you, it is good to know your travel company has your back.

2. Consultant name and satisfaction rating:
We were able to get across to Ali what we were looking for on this trip given that it was our 2nd time in Japan. Although we only got 10 days into the trip, it was clear that Ali had made excellent choices such as where we stayed in Tokyo and the 2 ryokans we stayed in which catered very well for our vegetarianism.

4. How would you rate the accommodation against your expectations?
All the accommodation we got to stay in was very good. We were wowed by how good the vegetarian meals were at the Ryokan. An update about Biyu no Yado ryokan in Yudanaka. They actually provide transport to take you up to the entrance of the snow monkey park.

5. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
No issues with the transport itself. Qatar was a bit mean removing the flights from Tokyo after we had booked and swapping to Japan Airlines instead. Already mentioned I found the multiple train tickets for the Shinkansen confusing. Bus tickets went very well. I thought we would struggle here but Ali's instructions were excellent.

6. Please comment on any professional guiding included in your package?
Only got to use 2 out of the 3 guides. Mike San in Tokyo was excellent. Hit the nail on the head with orientation to Japan, places visited, tips and tricks and lots of anecdotes. Highlight was the puppet show at Yanaka Ginza. Yoshiko San was equally good guiding us through the markets and old geisha district in Kanazawa. Helped a lot in explaining the buses there. Cannot fault either of them

Although expensive initially, the time saved by having IJ work out all the travel and hotel arrangements makes it more than worth it. The number of times we were in train stations looking at the huge queues for JR train tickets... The guide book is excellent as always. Always by our side on our travels. I also liked the inclusion of the destination xxx guides. These were also very useful for looking for things to do. The obvious thing now that we know we can rely on this company if things go wrong. Knowing they have your back is a hugely compelling reason to come back to IJ.
