Yamanaka lacquerware
Visit lacquerware artists at work in Yamanaka
Aside from its hot springs, Yamanaka is known for its unique lacquerware and porcelain and we can arrange for you to visit artisans at work. Follow the four steps of the process - making the wooden base on a lathe using Zelkova or Horse Chestnut wood, then priming and coating the bowl before lacquer is carefully painted on. Under expert tutelage you can take part in all of these stages and we can of course arrange for your creations to be shipped home.
