Lunch at the Tokyo Skytree
Dine at the vertiginous heights of the world's tallest tower: Tokyo's 634 m Skytree.
Opened in 2012, The Tokyo Skytree is the tallest structure in Japan at 634 m (2,080 ft), the tallest freestanding tower in the world, and the second-tallest structure in the world after the Burj Khalifa. Its height, 634 m, was chosen because "634" can be read as "mu-sa-shi" in Japanese, and Musashi was the historic name of the Tokyo region.
The Skytree's principal use is as a broadcasting tower for television and radio in the Kanto region, but it also boasts two pretty incredible observation decks (one at 350 m and one at 450 m), with a spiral, glass-covered skywalk ascending the final five metres to the upper platform. Not for the faint-hearted, that's for sure!
The tower also lays claim to what must surely be the most dramatic lunch & dinner spot in Tokyo, boasting a truly beautiful restaurant - Restaurant 634 - offering absolutely top-notch French-Japanese fusion cuisine and (need we mention it?) the most incredible views of Tokyo you could possibly imagine. All of which explains why this place is booked up months in advance!
