Japan rewards those who return, yet a first visit can still offer a meaningful sense of its diversity. By combining first-class high-speed rail with carefully planned experiences and exceptional hotel stays, it's possible to explore a wide range of landscapes and cultural highlights with ease. This itinerary is designed to make the most of your time while maintaining a comfortable, well-paced, and sophisticated journey. Read more >
Moving between Tokyo, Kyoto, and Mount Fuji, you'll experience each destination in depth, without compromise, through curated moments such as an Insider-led exploration of Tokyo's striking architecture, a private sushi masterclass, uncovering Kyoto's hidden temples, a traditional kintsugi workshop, and a private evening in the company of a geisha over dinner.
Tokyo stands at the forefront of global style, where fashion, art, and design converge with effortless confidence. From the cutting-edge boutiques of Omotesando to the refined elegance of Ginza, the city sets the pace for contemporary luxury. Its culinary scene is equally exceptional. Yet beyond its creativity and indulgence lies something deeper; a harmonious society, where millions live side by side in remarkably compact spaces with quiet respect and precision. It’s this balance of innovation, discipline, and beauty that makes Tokyo not just a great city, but one of the most compelling in the world.
Kyoto, by contrast, offers a more traditional and refined atmosphere. Once Japan’s imperial capital for over a thousand years, it introduces you to a world shaped by heritage, ritual, and authentic design. Together, Tokyo and Kyoto present two sides of Japan, making them essential destinations for a first visit.
Your journey concludes in first-class comfort along the Tokaido Shinkansen toward the majestic Mount Fuji region, staying in a beautiful traditional ryokan, located away from the crowds of Hakone, with Mt Fuji views from your window.
The beauty of this journey lies in the depth of culture and experience it offers, while still leaving room to explore further. Should you wish to extend your trip, additional regions of Japan can easily be incorporated. Simply speak with your travel consultant, who will be happy to make tailored recommendations. For many, a first visit to Japan is only the beginning.

Day 1-3
Arrive in Tokyo and transfer seamlessly to your hotel, where your journey begins. The following day, explore the city with your private Insider guide, before enjoying an exclusive sushi masterclass and lunch with a renowned chef, an intimate introduction to Japan's classic culinary traditions.
Our “Insiders” are carefully selected for their deep knowledge and personal connection to the places they call home. In Tokyo, your guide on day two is a true architecture enthusiast, offering a private, tailored introduction to the city's most striking design landmarks. Sushi is one of Japan's most influential culinary exports, celebrated worldwide for its precision and simplicity. In a private masterclass, learn from a chef with over 40 years' experience, gaining insight into technique and tradition before creating your own sushi using the freshest seasonal ingredients, followed by a memorable lunch. If sushi isn't to your taste, this experience can be tailored to an alternative, simply speak with your travel consultant.
Suggested Accommodation: Palace Tokyo

Day 4-6
Travel by bullet train to Kyoto in first-class comfort. Enjoy a private kaiseki dinner and geisha performance on your first evening. The next day, step away from the busy sights to explore hidden temples with your Insider guide, before finishing with a hands on kintsugi workshop.
Kintsugi is the Japanese art of giving broken ceramics a new lease of life by mending cracks with powdered gold and lacquer dust. Rather than hiding the breakage, kintsugi highlights it, turning imperfections into something even more beautiful, often described as the epitome of wabi sabi, an acceptance of transience and imperfection. In contrast to Tokyo, Kyoto feels distinctly different, not only in its historic streets and architecture, but in its pace, cuisine, and sense of place.
Suggested Accommodation: Six Senses Kyoto

Your journey concludes in first-class comfort along the Tokaido Shinkansen toward the majestic Mount Fuji region. Here, you'll stay in an exceptional ryokan, away from the Hakone crowds, where views of Fuji's perfectly formed peak can be enjoyed from the privacy of your room.
Surrounded by nature, this is a place to slow down and spend time together in a more intimate setting over dinner and bathing in the natural hot springs.
