Celebrate the start of married life with a luxury Japan honeymoon. Balance the big cities with fresh mountain air, private onsen baths, private guiding, and time set aside for just the two of you. Read more >
Begin in Tokyo, where a private guide will show you a side to the city that’s tailored to your interests – from tiny neighbourhood shrines to the places locals actually book for dinner. Then head north into the Japan Alps, where the pace drops and the mountain scenery opens out. Visit Matsumoto’s 16th-century “Black Crow” castle, before checking into a ryokan where your own private onsen bath awaits and dinner is a seasonal, carefully prepared kaiseki meal.
Next, cross the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route – a 90km journey through the Northern Alps by cable car, ropeway, and electric bus, with the Kurobe Dam en route. In spring, snow walls reach up to 20 metres, and in autumn, fiery leaves flash across the treetops. In Gokayama and Toyama, stay in beautifully restored farmhouses, meet local craftspeople, and eat exceptionally fresh seafood and soba.
Bike through Kyoto's backstreets with your private guide, discovering local spots hidden from the average tourist view, before your own personal wedding kimono photoshoot inside a beautifully preserved townhouse. Your honeymoon ends with a final night in Tokyo – one last meal and perhaps a rooftop cocktail or two before heading home with photos and memories to look back on for anniversaries to come.

Day 1-2
Arrive in Tokyo and settle into the electric atmosphere of Shinjuku, home to the world's busiest station and near endless neon-lit streets. The next day, explore the city with your private guide and driver, on a route tailored entirely to your interests.
Get to know the capital as a couple with your own designated local guide. They'll tailor a tour based on your interests, whether that's the history of Asakusa and Senso-ji Temple, the more hidden backstreets of old Tokyo, or the energy of Shibuya Crossing. You may prefer a quieter morning in Hamarikyu Garden or browsing Tokyo's beautifully curated food halls. Keen to travel through Tokyo as the locals do? We'll arrange your day using the famously efficient subway system.
Suggested Accommodation: Park Hyatt

Day 3-4
Your alpine adventure begins as you depart Tokyo for Matsumoto, a historic castle town set beneath the Japanese Alps. Spending two nights in an alpine ryokan retreat, you'll dine together on seasonal, high-quality kaiseki cuisine and soak in the comfort of your private onsen bath.
Your time here is intentionally unhurried. Perhaps a morning soak in your outdoor onsen, followed by locally guided activities that make the most of the season you're travelling in. Your journey then crosses the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route, a 90 km passage through the Northern Alps by cable car, ropeway, and electric bus. You'll pass through dramatic mountain scenery, the impressive Kurobe Dam, and, in spring, through towering snow walls reaching up to 20 metres high.
Suggested Accommodation: Kai Alps
-
Day 5-6
Spend these two days getting a feel for Japan's more rural communities and traditions. The energy of taiko drumming, the quiet precision of a tea ceremony, the hands-on fun of a washi paper making session.
Visit UNESCO-listed Gokayama, famed for its traditional gassho-zukuri "praying hands" farmhouses. Give the local craft, washi paper, making a go, tuck into local soba lunch, and meet farmers from this remote mountain community. Surrounded by the Northern Alps and the Sea of Japan, Toyama is shaped by pure alpine waters and is celebrated for some of Japan's finest seafood, including exceptionally fresh sushi.
Suggested Accommodation: Rakudo-An

Day 7-9
Continue by train to Kyoto, where you'll celebrate your marriage in true Japanese style, with a traditional wedding kimono photoshoot at a beautifully preserved townhouse.
Japan's imperial capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto has over 1,600 temples. Knowing which to pick is half the fun - and where your local guide will help. E-bike together through Kyoto's backstreets, cycling through the Gion and Miyagawacho geisha districts, along the Shirakawa River, and into the Kyoto Imperial Palace Park. Kyoto is a cultural hotspot for good reason, but this tour gets you beyond the obvious sights to a quieter feeling Kyoto.
Suggested Accommodation: Garrya Nijo Castle Kyoto

Day 10
Toast the start of married life in Tokyo - your final stop. Get one final izakaya meal, relax in a city park or go shopping for souvenirs.
Your dream honeymoon doesn't need to end here. Stay a few more days in the capital, journey on to other Japan regions, or take a flight to South Korea and keep making memories together.
