Kohaku Uta Gassen to feature Frozen segment
Japan's most-watched New Year's celebratory TV event, Kohaku Uta Gassen is to feature an entire section on the popular Disney film Frozen when it airs later tonight, it has been announced.
The animated picture, which hit cinema screens more than a year ago, was particularly in successful in Japan and karaoke bars remain full of the sound of men and women belting out the mega-hit Let It Go.
Idina Menzel, the Broadway star who sang the role of Elsa in the English version, will come to the country to appear on Kohaku Uta Gassen for an extended Frozen section featuring a number of the songs from the film.
She will appear alongside Sayaka Kanda, who voiced the role of Anna in the Japanese dubbed version of the film, to sing the number For The First Time In Forever in a dual-lingual version of the tune.
Menzel will then delight audiences by belting out the favourite Let It Go, which is incredibly popular with children and adults all over the world.
"I am very excited to be able to sing with Kanda-san," Menzel said in a statement.
Earlier this month, the actress confirmed that she will be adding Japan to her 2015 world tour, which will see her visit several countries across the globe. Tickets go on sale for Japanese venues from January 10th.
Kohaku Uta Gassen will be aired tonight (New Year's Eve) by Japanese broadcaster NHK. Frozen fans will also be treated to the pop version of Let It Go, as performed by J-Pop star May J.
