An explosion of the senses awaits you and your family in Japan's iconic destinations: Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka and Hakone. Combined they offer a compelling introduction to Japan, from vibrant metropolis to historic homes and relaxing hot-spring retreats. Read more >

Tokyo, Japan’s dynamic capital, brings your teenagers’ virtual worlds vividly to life. In districts such as Akihabara, Shibuya and Shinjuku, glowing pachinko parlours, late-night karaoke sessions, gaming arcades, anime-lined streets and fashion-fuelled department stores create a constant buzz of colour, sound and movement, giving the city an atmosphere that feels electric at every turn.

Before you know it, you’ll find yourself lying back in first class comfort on the Tokaido shinkansen to Kyoto where the mood shifts to one of elegance and tradition. Geisha tea houses, lively markets, samurai sword dance, colourful kimono’s, combined with hands-on cultural experiences offering a deeper introduction to Japan’s heritage.

Balance heritage with high-energy excitement at Universal Studios in Osaka, discovering the less conservative character of Osaka city, Japan's second largest city. As you explore the streets, you’ll sample some of the city’s best-loved specialities, from sizzling takoyaki to crispy kushikatsu, while discovering Osaka’s famous philosophy of kuidaore — “eat until you drop”.

Unwind in the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, at Hakone, the Eastern gateway to the Park. Mt Fuji views, traditional Japanese hospitality at your ryokan stay, and open-air baths provide space to recharge, before returning to Tokyo for a confident finale. Our choice of exquisite luxury hotels ensure comfort and privacy, allowing every generation experience Japan in their own way.

      Day 1-2

Welcome to Tokyo – where imagination meets reality at every turn.

Arrive into one of Tokyo's international airports, where your private driver will be waiting to transfer you directly to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to unwind, acclimatise and begin exploring your surroundings at your own pace.

The following day, discover why Tokyo is a playground for all ages. You'll be joined by one of our local “Insiders”, who will tailor the day around your interests. Explore the electric world of Akihabara, known for its anime, manga and gaming culture, before continuing to the trend-setting districts of Harajuku and Shibuya. You may also visit Nakano Broadway, a favourite for vintage collectibles, cosplay and J-pop finds.

In the evening, your guide can introduce you to a traditional izakaya, where small plates and a relaxed atmosphere offer an easy and enjoyable introduction to Japanese dining.

      Suggested Accommodation: Peninsula

    • Day 3-5

      Day 3-5

Relax in the comfort of the Green Car as you travel by shinkansen to Kyoto, Japan's cultural heart and home to an extraordinary collection of UNESCO World Heritage sites.

While it would be impossible to see them all, your time here is carefully designed to showcase the very best of the city, led by our local Insider guide with private driver.

Included experiences feature a private rickshaw ride through Kyoto's atmospheric backstreets, showing you Kyoto in a different way. Get up close and personal at an exclusive encounter with a maiko, Kyoto's apprentice geisha, providing a rare glimpse into this refined world. For something more hands-on, step into the role of a samurai, learning basic sword techniques, fan movements and traditional etiquette.

You'll also have time to explore at your own pace, with the option to visit nearby Nara, Japan's first capital, known for its historic temples and free-roaming deer.

Suggested Accommodation: The Hotel Seiryu Kyoto Kiyomizu

    • Day 6-7

      Day 6-7

Leaving the refined atmosphere of Kyoto, travel by private car to Osaka, where the mood shifts to something altogether more vibrant and expressive.

As Japan's second largest city, Osaka is known for its outgoing personality, lively streets and exceptional food culture. On arrival, head out with a local guide for a private evening food tour through the bustling district of Dotonbori. Neon lights, animated crowds and glowing restaurant signs set the scene as you sample some of the city's best-loved dishes and gain insight into Osaka's renowned culinary scene.

The following day, enjoy a full day at Universal Studios Japan, with express passes included to make the most of the park's most popular attractions. With time to explore more of the city at your own pace, Osaka offers an energetic and memorable contrast to your journey so far.

      Suggested Accommodation: Patina Osaka

    • Day 8-9

      Day 8-9

Say farewell to the energy in Osaka aboard your next shinkansen ride to Odawara.

Met by your local driver who will be waiting to transfer you to your luxurious accommodation, a traditional ryokan. This evening invites you to slow the pace, with time to unwind in soothing onsen hot springs before sitting down to a beautifully prepared kaiseki dinner, where seasonal ingredients are made into pieces of art.

The following day, explore Hakone with one of our local Insider guides, who will bring the region to life with expert knowledge and thoughtful recommendations. Travelling by private vehicle, you'll discover the area's highlights at a relaxed pace, from scenic viewpoints to cultural sites, ensuring you experience the very best of this mountainous landscape.
