1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
The tours, both the Hidden Japan tour, and the tour planned by yourselves for an add on 5 days, were absolutely wonderful, magical and exceeded expectations. I enjoyed every moment apart from the one hour when I couldn't find the entrance to my hotel in Tokyo on my return from a museum on the first day! Everything about the trip was excellent - the hotels, the places visited and experiences, the tour guide was just brilliant, knowledgeable and attentive at all times to our safety and well being. There were so many highlights that it is hard to single out any one thing.

2. Tour Leader name and satisfaction rating
Van was the most brilliant tour leader - I can't praise him enough! He was extremely knowledgeable about the history, politics and culture of Japan, of Buddhism and Shintoism, of the arts and especially ceramics, and of the flora and fauna. He gave us a good grounding in cultural norms - what to do and not to do - which was extremely helpful and really looked after us as a group. The fact that he spoke fluent Japanese meant that he was able to translate for us along the way and give us an insight into what was happening wherever we went allowing us to communicate better with the wonderful people that we met. Without his input I would have missed so much - he really made the tour very special and definitely went above and beyond to share his knowledge and introduce us to the wonders of Japan.

3. Consultant name and satisfaction rating:
Emma was always extremely helpful over the phone and happy to answer any questions down to the smallest of details. Nothing was too much bother. She planned my add on days with my wishes and needs in mind taking into account the interests I expressed and the fact that I was on my own and had never been to Japan before. I am not sure how much influence she had on the choice of tour leader for the group tour but the choice was perfect in that I had expressed an interest in ceramics and gardens and our tour leader was highly knowledgeable about both. It was a perfect match.

5. How would you rate the accommodation against your expectations?
I loved the variety of accommodation on offer and to be honest the quality of accommodation was much higher than I have ever experienced before, travelling on my own. If I was going again I would probably be looking for a slightly cheaper option. However, I enjoyed what seemed to me like luxurious accommodation. Fujiya hotel was absolutely superb and well located, the most luxurious of all the hotels, but being there on my own felt a bit odd - I wanted to share the experience - and I didn't feel comfortable eating in the restaurant on my own (breakfast was fine) Dinner was very expensive, formal, had to be booked and it was very early. As I was out exploring all day this meant the only option was to eat in the bar but the menu there was very limited. However. apart from the food the hotel Fujiya was a lovely experience and I would go back with friends if I could afford to

6. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
Transport was perfect. It was great to have the Hakone pass included to save the hustle of buying it there and similarly the train tickets from Kyoto to Odawara and then on to Tokyo. Someone from the group gave me an IC card which was invaluable when I was in Tokyo.

7. Please tell us your thoughts on the meals included during your tour.
Meals included were excellent and very varied. The one I enjoyed the most was the Bento box at the museum on Naoishima. The first night meal was a good introduction to the different types of food. The meal at the temple and the two meals at the Inn in Kotahira were of course a very special dining experience but two nights in a row was a bit too much for me.
