The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Broomfield, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan holidays and tours.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.

Our resident baseball nut, when Tetsuko isn't organising transport tickets, booking events and generally making sure everything runs according to plan in our Nagoya office, she can usually be found enthusiastically cheering on her favourite team: the Hanshin Tigers.

Tetsuko is a long-standing member of the InsideJapan team, having joined us back in 2008. She quickly made herself indispensable, and without her organisation and constant cheerfulness the Nagoya office certainly wouldn't be the well-oiled machine it is today.

Born and brought up in Toyohashi City not far from Nagoya, Tetsuko went on to study German literature in Kobe - where she became an avid fan of the Hanshin Tigers baseball team. The Hanshin Tigers have a reputation for having the most fanatical supporters in all Japan, so Tetsuko fits right in!

After leaving university Tetsuko travelled extensively in Europe, North America and Asia, including a year spent living with a host family in Hawaii. Of all the places she has visited, her two favourite destinations were the Cotswolds in England, and Dubai - where she enjoyed driving through the desert, riding a camel and trying a hookah pipe for the first time.

Outside of work, Tetsuko practises Kendo, Iaido, and Joudo (not Judo!) - all different Japanese martial arts involving sword fighting. She also enjoys visiting temples and loves to appreciate Buddhist art, two pastimes that she finds especially therapeutic.

What would you say to persuade someone to visit Japan?

"There are so many reasons! Although it's a typical answer, the old cliché is true: Japan is an amazing place to experience history and cutting-edge technology coexisting side-by-side.

"Kyoto is my favourite place in Japan, and I always love spending time there. I lived in the city for six years and have so many great memories. Muggy and hot in the summer yet chilly in the winter, Kyoto is Japan's longest-established city and has a plethora of amazing World Heritage Sites - not to mention delicious cuisine. I highly recommend for every visitor to Japan to visit Kyoto!"
