The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Broomfield, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan holidays and tours.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.

After having spent three fun-filled years teaching some of Japan's youngest English students in Niigata, Harry returned to the UK in 2005 and immediately began working for InsideJapan.

Harry first visited Japan in the mid-1990s when he went to stay with his older sister, an Assistant Language Teacher on the JET scheme. Won over by meals of delicious gyoza dumplings (followed by beer, followed by more delicious gyoza), it was not long before he returned in 2001 to spend three years teaching in Yamagata and Niigata Prefectures.

Besides his interest in Japan, Harry is a committed sportsman and at various stages has been a keen player of football, rugby, water polo and squash - as well as having run the Tokyo marathon and worked as a trampoline coach!

To those considering Japan as a holiday destination, Harry would say that it is like no other place on earth. Every country claims to have friendly locals, but the Japanese REALLY go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They are so proud of their country that they are delighted you have travelled so far to see it. In fact, in almost ten years of working at InsideJapan, Harry has only ever met one person who didn't like the place - and they're still friends!

After 11 years in our UK office, in August 2016 Harry transferred to our Australian office in Brisbane as Sales and Marketing Manager.

What is your top tip for holidaymakers in Japan?

Pack a pair of shoes that you can easily slip on and off for temple hopping. It's no fun undoing and doing up laces six times per day!

My honeymoon in Miyajima

"My wife and I met while we were both teachers in Niigata, so when we decided to get married we could think of no better place to spend our honeymoon than Japan.

"We returned to our old stomping ground of Niigata and did some culture in Kyoto and Tokyo, but my favourite place of all was definitely Miyajima - a tiny island off the coast of Hiroshima. It's just such a lovely, romantic place to soak up the atmosphere, do a bit of souvenir shopping, meet the friendly local deer and watch the ships go by in the bay. Then, in the evening, you can slip on your yukata bathrobe and wooden sandals and tiptoe down to see Itsukushima Shrine and its 'floating' gate illuminated in the dark."
