Japanese princess finishes kindergarten
Japan's Princess Aiko has finished attending kindergarten, it has emerged.

According to reports by Kyodo News, the princess marked the end of her attendance on Saturday (March 15th) with a ceremony, attended by the Crown Princess Masako and Crown Prince Naruhito.

Gakushuin Kindergarten, the institution previously attended by Princess Aiko, is located within the Toshima Ward of Tokyo.

Also known by her imperial title, Princess Toshi, Princess Aiko was born in December 2001 and is now six years of age.

Now that Princess Aiko has finished kindergarten, she is expected to begin studies at Gakushuin Primary School, in Tokyo from next month.

Should the princess later decide to marry a commoner, she will lose the right to use or be known by her imperial title.

The current emperor of Japan is His Imperial Majesty the Emperor Akihito.

His Imperial Majesty has reined since January 7th 1989.
