Japan collaborates on drug delivery
Japanese oleochemicals group NOF is working with the University of California - Los Angeles (UCLA) on ways to incorporate nanotechnology into drug delivery solutions.

Tokyo-based NOF, founded in 1937, is bringing its seven decades of experience in the sector to the project, which marks the beginning of the UCLA California NanoSystems Institute (CNSI) Frontier Research Program.

Along with investigating the use of nanotechnology for medical applications, this is also due to address environmental issues and renewable power, human health in general and the use of nanoelectronics in IT.

NOF director and operating officer Akiharu Kobayashi says: "We are delighted to collaborate with the stellar group of investigators at CNSI and UCLA on shared interests in new methods and materials for drug delivery."

The firm itself says that it is committed to co-existing with the world as a whole, operating on a principle of creating new value propositions "from the biosphere to outer space".
