Tom Chesshyre rounds up the best ski destinations for 2012/13 and quite rightly includes Japan. Tom looks at the famous slopes of Niseko and the boutique Greenleaf hotel. Japan has hundreds of resorts with perfect powder snow making it one of the best resorts in the world.

James Bond on location: 007 holiday destinations - Abigail Flanagan

Land of the falling snow - A trip into yukiguni, Japan's wintry heart - Chris Granet

Chris travelled out to Niigata which is covered in snow for the winter months and has some of Japan's best ski resorts. There are some fantastic tradtional ryokan in the area, the area is known for great rice and sake and it is an amazing rural cultural experience. A good read from Chris.

The satirist/comedian/writer Charlie Brooker travelled to Kyoto in January 2012 and did a cooking class. Charlie visited one of our cooking classes at a home in Kyoto and seemed to enjoy it. He also stayed at the very nice Hoshinoya, Kyoto which is a beautiful experience in itself.

Love him or hate him, Charlie Brooker certainly seems to get people talking about his work. This time he wrote about his first trip to the sumo in Tokyo. I think he actually liked it. This piece was slated by sumo purists...but I don't think it is to be taken too seriously.

Paul travelled to Japan for the first time and headed deep into the mountains of Niigata. The winter months see deep snow and the area is renowned for some of honshu's best skiing. IJT came up with a package to include the lesser known Kitano Odori geisha dances in Kyoto which take place for a short period during spring....I like to think we won the challenge!
