Football tournament win for Japan
Japan sealed victory in the Kirin football tournament after earning a 0-0 draw with Paraguay.

In their first game of the three-nation tournament Japan had beaten the Ivory Cost 1-0 with a first-half goal.

The team will be pleased to have sealed victory in the competition with the draw, which was seen as a warm-up to forthcoming World Cup qualifiers.

And according to Radio Australia reports, coach Takeshi Okada has been under pressure to improve the performance of the Japanese team, following a defeat against Bahrain on March 26th.

This result saw Japan drop three points behind Bahrain in Asian qualifying group two.

Japan, who are three-time Asian champions, play Oman in Yokohama on Monday, then travel away to face the same team on June 7th.

The squad must then go to Thailand for their next fixture a week later and return home to play Bahrain again on June 22nd.
