Apple's iPhone gets Japan launch date
Japanese consumers will be able to buy Apple's iconic iPhone next month, it has been confirmed.

According to reports, Apple's iPhone handset will become available in Japan on July 11th, featuring a number of services including satellite navigation and improved internet connectivity.

In Japan, the new handset will be released by mobile phone network Softbank.

"iPhone 3G arrives soon in dozens of countries worldwide. And since iPhone 3G is a UMTS/HSDPA and GSM world phone, it works practically anywhere on the planet," said Apple.

"Just like the original iPhone, it combines three products in one - a revolutionary phone, a widescreen iPod, and a breakthrough internet device."

In addition to 3G connectivity, the new handset will also feature the ability to download applications and there will also be support for Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync.

In addition to Japanese, the handset will offer support for other languages, including Korean and Chinese.
