Lavigne begins Japanese tour
Rock singer Avril Lavigne has begun a nationwide tour of Japan.

The Canadian singer began the tour this week in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka Prefecture in front of a crowd of around 5,000 people.

Lavigne will perform in Niigata, Tokyo, Nagoya, Osaka, Fukuoka and Hiroshima until September 24th.

On her visit to Tokyo, she will be joined onstage by Japanese artists including Ai Otsuka and Puffy, reports Japan Today.

Lavigne's debut album Let Go was released in 2002 and sold more than 16 million copies worldwide. She has notched up six number one hits, including Complicated, Sk8er Boi, I'm With You and Girlfriend.

In 2007, Forbes magaizine ranked her seventh in a list of the top earners under the age of 25.

She married boyfriend, punk singer Deryck Whibley of Sum 41, in a catholic wedding ceremony in 2006, a year after getting engaged.

Lavigne is also a supporter of several charities including Amnesty International and War Child. ADNFCR-1445-ID-18777274-ADNFCR
