1. How would you describe your overall level of satisfaction with us as your tour operator?
Having travelled with Inside Japan last year (on an ACE tour for which Inside Japan provided all the logistics and an outstanding guide), you were my first choice for this year's trip. Generally, the quality of service, the tour itinerary, the tour leader, accommodation, destinations, food, travel, etc were excellent. The group was congenial, and the tour leader went the extra mile to ensure everyone had a good experience of Japan. but I did feel that the pace and content of the tour were affected by a group member who was unable to do some of what was on the itinerary without very considerable help and support from the tour leader. This put pressure on our excellent tour leader, who went above and beyond is trying to ensure everybody's experience was as good as possible, and I felt it did affect the tour. The tour information is quite clear about the fitness levels required. It's difficult to advise a client, who has no insight into the limitations of his mobility, but some greater client awareness might have persuaded him to take another, easier tour. I would have rated this section excellent, but I had an issue with some additional travel (see below).
2. Tour Leader name and satisfaction rating
Steve is an outstanding tour leader - knowledgeable, very organized, well informed, interesting about Japanese culture, good company, great delivery of information, and he went out of his way to ensure that every member of the group had as positive an experience as possible. He is very familiar with the tour destinations, and took very good care us throughout the whole trip. I was surprised to be met at the Tokyo hotel when I arrived at 7 am a couple of days before the tour formally started (I hadn't read the trip notes carefully enough), and Steve had already prepared maps and helpful tips for a few days in Tokyo. He really went the extra mile throughout the whole trip.
3. Consultant name and satisfaction rating:
With regard to the Northern Soul tour, Anna was first class - helpful, positive, quick to respond, and informative. However, some additional travel I wanted to do to Naoshima and Teshima ran into problems due to a public holiday, which I think she should have been aware of (see below). As a result, I only managed to achieve half of what I wanted to do, and didn't get to Teshima.
4. How would you rate your package in terms of value for money?
5. How would you rate the accommodation against your expectations?
I paid a considerable single person supplement, and was unhappy with the smallness the first hotel room in Tokyo (Via Inn Asakusa). I understand that rooms are small and Tokyo was packed with rugby fans, but this room was very small, and in need of a freshen up. Otherwise, the accommodation was fine.
6. Please give us your comments on the transport included in your package.
It all worked very well, and a couple of the minibuses were the most luxurious I had ever travelled in!
7. Please tell us your thoughts on the meals included during your tour.
Generally the food was good (local, seasonal and interesting), and Steve's recommendations on where to go for meals not included in the tour were excellent.

On two visits to Japan, Inside Japan's tour leaders have been outstanding and hugely contributed to the enjoyment of the travel. Inside Japan do know their stuff, and I have recommended Inside Japan to several friends who have also had excellent holidays.
