Travel consultant <a href=\"https:\/\/www.insidejapantours.com\/about-us\/staff-profiles\/travel-consultants\/194\/becky-barry\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rebecca Barry<\/a> went in search of the country&#8217;s prettiest caf\u00e9s, desserts and coffee; envy-inducing Instagram fodder for all your friends back home!<br \/>\n<!--more--><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\">Insta-caf\u00e9 your way through Japan<\/h2>\n<p>People come to Japan for a myriad of reasons \u2013 the culture, the history, the beautiful scenery \u2013 but if food is your focus, why not stop in at some of Japan\u2019s more unique cafes for that insta-worthy shot? In between bar hopping and arcade playing I recommend heading over to the library themed hostel\/caf\u00e9 Book &amp; Bed. They serve a normal caf\u00e9 menu \u2013 coffee, toast, ice cream \u2013 with one exception: it\u2019s all black.<\/p>\n<p>Here I tried the Strawberry <em>koboreru<\/em> latte \u2013 so named as it quite literally \u2018overflows\u2019, taste-wise it\u2019s more like a warm strawberry milkshake. When not relaxing in the hot spring baths Hakone is famous for, you\u2019ll probably ride across lake Ashi on its pirate ship. Docking at Hakonemachi-Ko port you\u2019ll find a small shopping centre called Hotoriya where caf\u00e9 Komon lives.<\/p>\n<p>Here you\u2019ll be able to try some more traditional fare (DIY-style) with a \u2018grill your own <em>dango<\/em> set\u2019 &#8211; a type of Japanese rice cake. This also came complete with sweet soy sauce, azuki sweet red bean and pickled radish. Tucked away in the back of a gift shop just opposite the temple is a cheesecake caf\u00e9 that\u2019s not to be missed. The green tea cheesecake here has an almost mousse-like texture with a hint of matcha &#8211; a perfect afternoon treat. Aside from regular lattes they serve a range of colourful options, all beautifully decorated including an \u2018Ocean latte\u2019 (citrus flavour), \u2018Foresta Latte\u2019 (rose flavour) and some stunning smoothies. This volcano is the theme of quirky caf\u00e9 Arvo with many volcano shaped desserts such as its blueberry parfait and chocolate cake.
