James Mundy

Special subjects: Gunma, Scuba diving, Japanese history

James Mundy, or “Japan Jim” as he is known to his legions of fans, is the PR & Marketing powerhouse behind InsideAsia Tours.

A West Ham fan, diving enthusiast and Japanese history buff, Jim spent three years living in the mountains of rural Gunma Prefecture as an English teacher before moving to Tokyo, where he occasionally signed autographs as Bruce Willis and narrowly missed out on becoming the presenter of a UK culture show in Japan.

What was Japanese television’s loss was our gain, and since 2005 Jim has gone from being an IJT tour leader to PR & Marketing Manager, celebrating his tenth anniversary with the company in May 2015.

Beyond Japan, Jim has travelled widely – especially in Southeast Asia – and now turns his many talents to our operations in Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Burma. Unfortunately, “Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Burma and Japan Jim” doesn’t quite roll off the tongue.
