David Lovejoy

Special subjects: photography, art, Japanese cinema

David Lovejoy is the first and last word in photography, bringing us otherworldly images from the length and breadth of Japan as he leads our Small Group Tours.

It was his degree in art that first got David interested in Japan. He loved the distinctive aesthetic of Japanese painters, photographers, and (as a bit of a movie buff) the films of Akira Kurosawa and Seijin Suzuki. He also has some excellent artistic credentials himself, having worked as a photographer for several years before moving to Japan – and his blog posts prove that he is as comfortable at the keyboard as he is behind the lens.

These days, there’s nothing David prefers to do than get out a map of Japan and start planning his next trip. Which is lucky for us, because that means more pictures!
