Our team at Inside Japan Tours
The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Boulder, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan tours and holidays.
We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.
From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.
Josh grew up in the literary haven of Stratford upon Avon, sharing the accolade with Shakespeare. But while tourists travel thousands of miles to flock to his home town, Josh was keen to fly the nest.
He took the first opportunity he could to see the world, living in Cambodia for 6 months before studying Asian economics and Buddhist history in Kyoto for 13 months. As well as being close to both sea and mountains, one of Josh's favourite parts about living in Japan's cultural capital was the proximity to countless temples. In fact, he insists he's seen all 1,000 of them in Kyoto!
Though temple tramping is one of his favourite past-times, Josh is happiest when taking to Japan's many hiking trails. Early mornings in Kyoto were often spent hotfooting up and down the stairs of the iconic Fushimi Inari Taisha (he estimates having taken them on at least 300 times), but his proudest hiking moment to date is completing the eye-watering 1,000-mile Shikoku Pilgrimage, or 88-temple trail.
All that walking (and culture) is hungry work and at the end of a busy week or a mammoth walk, Josh likes nothing more than to cook up a well-earned vegetarian feast. As a self-confessed Japanese craft beer connoisseur, there's no better excuse to brush up on some thirsty homework too!
