Our team at Inside Japan Tours

The sun never sets on the InsideJapan Tours team (well, maybe on Sundays) as we have offices in Bristol (UK), Boulder, (USA), Brisbane (Australia) and Nagoya (Japan). On this page you can meet the people behind our Japan tours and holidays.

We have a wide range of backgrounds and interests, but you can be sure that the one thing that ties us all together is a love of Japan, Japanese culture and a passionate desire to share that with other people.

From the accounts department, through the travel consultant teams to the tour leaders and guides on the ground, you can rest assured that everything we do is to make sure you have the best possible experience of Japan.

Brian Beatty

Brian was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and grew up in Ventura, California. These days he lives in Tokyo, and leads our Small Group Tour customers on exciting trips across Japan.

Growing up, Brian recalls being exposed to Japanese culture from a young age. A friend's mother was a homestay host for Japanese exchange students, which meant that he had the opportunity to make friends with lots of Japanese kids, and dreamt of visiting Japan from a young age. His best friend moved to Japan in 2006, and he followed in 2012. Within just six months, he knew he'd never leave.

In addition to his four years (and counting) in Japan, Brian has lived in Manchester, England (where he studied music production) and Barcelona, Spain (where he took the opportunity to do a bit of deejaying). He is also an ex-professional snakeboarder (now known as streetboarding) - and brother to the 1994 world champion! Though he's now retired from the sport, Brian has judged the All Japan Streetboarding Championships every year for the past four years.

Since living in Japan, Brian has worked as an English teacher at a conversation school, where he enjoyed working with people from all walks of life - from news reporters to creative directors, fashion photographers, eye doctors, TV hosts, and directors. These days, when he's not leading our Small Group Tours, he enjoys basketball, skateboarding, golf, studying Japanese and trying out new restaurants in his hometown of Tokyo.

Kyoto in the autumn

My favourite memory is the first time I went to Kyoto in the fall with a girl who is now my wife. I had always heard stories about it and I had high expectations to say the least. It was everything and more than I expected.
