7 Night Price Cruncher

7 Nights: £648 (excluding international flights)
Japan has long had a reputation for being one of the world’s most expensive countries. Yet a trip to Japan needn’t break the bank; superb value budget hotels & Japanese inns, cheap & efficient local transport and great food at fantastic prices mean a week in Japan is accessible to nearly everyone!

This 7 night budget Japan holiday takes in three of Japan's major destinations - Tokyo, Hakone and Kyoto.

The trip begins with your arrival at Tokyo's Narita Airport from where you will travel into the city using the included PASMO card. This pre-pay transport pass can be used on all the lines in Tokyo and the surrounding area. Your PASMO card comes ready charged with 2500 yen of credit and if you run out you can just add more at any machine - the ideal way to get around the city.

You will be staying three nights in the capital, based in the old town district of Asakusa. Your top Toyko budget hotel is located just 7 minutes walk from one of Tokyo's main sights, Sensoji Temple, and is also directly above three subway lines making it the perfect base for getting around the whole city.

After exploring the megalopolis you will move on to the Hakone National Park for a stay in this beautiful mountain area. The contrast with Tokyo is dramatic and if you are lucky with the weather, you will have the chance to see spectacular views of Mt Fuji. Accommodation here will be traditional style and your family-run inn has some fantastic hot spring baths for you to relax in - both indoors and out. There is nothing like lying back in a steaming hot bath and staring up at the stars whilst sipping on a cold beer! We have also included a Hakone Freepass for the local transport in this region. Be sure to try out the 'pirate ship' which makes regular sailings across Lake Ashi.

Day 5 will see you move on by Shinkansen 'Bullet Train' (reserved seat tickets included) to Kyoto for a 3 night stay in Japan's capital of history and culture. Your centrally located budget Kyoto hotel is the perfect place from which to explore the city. Kyoto is one of the places in the world to visit and narrowing down the hundreds of things to see and do can be quite a challenge. Just be sure to check out our recommendations in the complimentary InsideJapan Tour's Info-Pack.

On Day 8 you will transfer to Kansai Airport by direct train for which we will supply you with a reserved seat ticket. Of course, if you fancy a longer stay why not add on some extra nights in Kyoto or tailor the trip and move on to Osaka to spend some time in one of Japan's most vibrant cities. The choice is yours!

This trip proves that a it is perfectly possible to have a cheap holiday in Japan and that Japanese budget accommodation is amongst the best in the world. So beat the credit crunch blues and sign up for this 7 night adventure in Japan.
