Hakuba Winter Sports

8 Nights: £980 (excluding international flights)
Come and experience some of the best powder snow in the world! Hakuba offers a choice of 7 resorts, providing more terrain than you could explore in a lifetime. Come nightfall, hot spring baths and amazing dining and nightlife options await – this will be a winter holiday like no other!

Hakuba is one of Japan's premier winter sports resorts, and after hosting several events of the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympic Games, is one of its best known resorts too. Situated high in the Japan Alps (often referred to as 'The Roof of Japan'), but just three hours from Tokyo, Hakuba is a fantastic way to enjoy the best of Japan's amazing snow conditions, without the need for domestic flights or lengthy transfers. You also get the chance to get to know two of Japan's major icons; the amazing Shinkansen (bullet train) and the famous snow monkeys - their hot spring base is an easy excursion from Hakuba!

The trip starts and ends with a night in the capital Tokyo. You will be based in the vibrant Shinjuku district, the perfect place to dive headlong into Japan, with its neon lit streets buzzing with energy, and more shopping, restaurant and nightlife options than you would need in a lifetime!

On day 2 you will board the famous Shinkansen and speed north to Nagano city, where a short bus ride will take you to Hakuba itself. Here you will 6 nights, giving you 5 full days on the slopes, with the All Valley lift pass included, giving you access to the full array of Hakuba's slopes.

After a hard day on the slopes you will be keen for some après-ski, and Hakuba has plenty on offer, from a relaxing soak in a hot-spring bath to a great range of bars and restaurants, with both traditional Japanese and familiar western options available. There are also some great excursions options available, allowing you to take a beak from the slopes, or perhaps to check out some of the other resorts in the surrounding mountains. The famous snow monkeys at Yudanaka are an easy day trip; A photograph of these cheeky chaps as they relax in their own hot-spring makes for the ultimate winter Japan souvenir!

After 6 nights in Hakuba it is back to Tokyo on the Shinkansen, for a final night among the bright lights, until you head back to the airport to head home; you will probably planning your return visit already!
