Nature and Culture – From Bears to Geisha
See Japan, a country with fascinating wildlife and unique culture
If you clamour for culture and the call of the wild, try InsideJapan Tours’ NEW Nature and Culture tour – experience the classic sites and hidden treasures, from Imperial Kyoto to Asiatic Black Bear watching
Ask people to think of Japan and they will usually think of the bright lights of Tokyo, the temples and Geisha of the ancient Imperial capital of Kyoto, and of course the nation’s love for fish and sushi. People will rarely think of Japan’s less trodden paths into the quieter countryside, of the towering mountain peaks in the Japanese Alps or the wildlife that can be found within the lush mountain forests. And few will ever think about hiking into the mountains to find the Asiatic Black Bear, Macaque Monkey or Kamoushika mountain deer. InsideJapan Tours’ new 13-night Nature and Culture trip brings together experiences of captivating wildlife and legendary Japanese culture.
A new tour for 2008, it enables you to see all the classic sights of Japan but allows you the privilege of discovering a Japan that many people do not realise exists, as well as the opportunity to see rare wild animals up close, with InsideJapan Tours’ expert conservationist and tour leader, Oscar Huygens.
Simon King, InsideJapan Tours Director, comments: “As well as the wildlife experiences that make this tour so different to other group tours of Japan, and indeed the rest of the world, the trip also includes stays in a variety of accommodation including western style hotels along with traditional Japanese guest houses known as ryokan. A stay in a ryokan is a uniquely Japanese experience which will add to the true sense of Japan offered by this tour.”
Tour leader Oscar, a wildlife biologist specialising in the ecology and conservation of Asiatic Black Bears, will lead a small group of up to nine people around Japan, coming into his element, he takes the party from the impressive alpine castle town of Matsumoto for a hike into the mountains to a lodge with plenty of stunning views and scenery en-route. From the comforts of the mountain lodge, Oscar will lead walks into the forests where you will get up-close with some of Japan’s rarer wildlife – a true privilege and a special experience.
There are just two departures for the Nature and Culture tour during the year, on 24 May and 4 October 2008, so if you want a chance to experience it you will need to book now!
Ends 20 March 2008
