Japanese PM's back catalogue gains online fans
A single released by the Japanese prime-minister elect back in 1988 has gained a legion of online fans, it has been reported.

According to Japanese newspaper Kyodo News, a vinyl of the single, called "Take Heart -Fly, Dove of Peace", recently sold for around 35,000 yen online, reported the Telegraph.

The newspaper reported that the producer of the song, 65-year-old dentist Teruaki Asanuma said: "I never imagined that there would be a day when this tune would come into the spotlight."

He wrote the song after a request from Hatoyama, he said, with around 100 copies made and given out to political supporters of the politician.

According to local reports, 62-year-old Hatoyama, who is set to become prime minister of Japan on September 16th, was "quite accustomed to singing".

His Democratic Party of Japan achieved a landslide victory over the Liberal Democratic Party, which has been ruling almost constantly in Japan since the Second World War.
