Nakamura to play for Japan, despite injury
Celtic midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura is expected to play in Japan's World Cup qualifier against Australia next month despite suffering from a groin strain at the weekend.

Nakamura, whose current contract with Celtic runs until June this year, told Japanese reporters: "[Celtic] are fighting for the title so I can't rest.

"It would be better to have a week in Japan to prepare but there's nothing I can do about it."

In the past, the player has suffered from a number of knee and ankle injuries.

Australia currently leads group one in the last round of Asian World Cup qualifiers having clinched three points in each of their three games, reports the Guardian.

The top two from each qualifying group will go through to the 2010 World Cup finals which take place in South Africa.

Nakamura joined Celtic from the Italian side Reggina in August 2005. ADNFCR-1445-ID-18968261-ADNFCR
