Japanese football fixtures revealed
The Japanese football team will play against Holland and Ghana in warm-up games before the 2010 World Cup, it has been announced.

Coach Takeshi Okada said yesterday (July 8th) that the team will play against Holland on September 5th and Ghana on September 9th.

Firstly, the team will travel to Enschede to face the Netherlands team, with the second fixture taking the Japanese players to Utrecht.

"The road trip will help us obtain first-hand knowledge of teams that have the potential to reach the last four," Mr Okada said.

Japan have already qualified for next year's tournament but are ranked lowest out of the three teams.

Official FIFA rankings place Holland third in the world, with Ghana 35th and Japan in 40th place.

FIFA puts Japan in second place in the continental rankings, behind Australia and one ahead of the Korean Republic.

Back in 1998, the Japanese team was ranked as the ninth best in the world by FIFA.
