New PS3 game goes on sale in Japan
The trial version of the new Playstation 3 game, "Final Fantasy XIII", has become available in Japan.

Although the Square Enix title of the game is not due to go on sale until later this year, the disc became available as a bundle with the blu-ray Final Fantasy Seven movie in the country on Thursday, PC World reports.

The launch had been promoted by Sony prior to Thursday, with posters featuring Midgar, the capital of the world of Gaia, which provides the setting for the Final Fantasy films.

Final Fantasy XIII may be showcased at the Tokyo Game Show this September, the news provider suggested.

In related news, New figures have revealed that the Playstation 3 has outsold the Nintendo Wii for the first time in 16 months.

Data from publishing firm Enterbrain revealed that last month saw 146,948 PS3s sold, compared with 99,335 Wiis.

The same period saw 43,172 sales of Xbox 360s.
