Hollywood star Tom Cruise flew dozens of fans to the Japanese city of
Osaka for the premiere of his new film, it has been revealed.
More than 3,000 people applied for the honour of joining the actor, but only 40 were chosen, reports Kyodo News.
The lucky winners were flown onboard a Japan Airlines aircraft from Tokyo's Haneda Airport to Kansai International Airport.
Cruise, along with around 500 fans, then attended a special preview of the film in Sakai City.
As usual, the star chatted with members of the public, posed for photos and signed autographs.
In his latest film, Valkyrie, he plays Colon Claus von Stauffenberg, an officer in the German military who attempted to assassinate Adolf Hitler.
The film comes after last year's Tropic Thunder and 2007's Lions for Lambs, according to the Internet Movie Database.
Cruise's other films include Jerry Maguire, Eyes Wide Shut and Vanilla Sky.
