Oasis to play in Japan
Mancunian rockers Oasis will be performing in Japan next week as part of a tour promoting their most recent album, Dig out Your Soul.

Venues will include the Makuhari Messe (Nippon Convention Centre) in Tokyo, the Nihon Gaishi Hall in Nagoya and Makomanai Open Stadium in Sapporo.

Oasis were also due to perform in China but were reportedly banned from doing so after it emerged Noel Gallagher appeared at a Free Tibet concert in 1997.

The NME reports that the band are planning to give away a series of free downloads and a CD later this month.

In exchange for use of the songs, a donation has been made to the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Music fans planning a holiday in Japan may also be interested to learn that the Fuki Rock Festival takes place in July.

Highlights of last year's event included The Go! Team, My Bloody Valentine, Underworld and Kasabian.
