Japan has been named the best holiday destination in the world by Wanderlust Travel Magazine.
The country won the title for the first time ever after years of jostling between Namibia and New Zealand for the prestigious award.
Meanwhile, Singapore Airlines retained its top worldwide airline title, beating off competition from Air New Zealand and Etihad.
Air Berlin was named the best low-cost airline, ahead of Virgin Blue and Air Asia.
Intrepid explorer and anthropologist Bruce Parry scooped the award for best TV programme for his recent show Amazon.
Antigua in Guatemala was named the top country in the world to visit.
When it comes to sun, sea and fine dining, Wanderlust recommends the Japanese island of
Okinawa. "The astonishingly good seafood on offer will come as no surprise, but the island also raises its own prize beefsteak cows," commented Team Wanderlust.
