Janet Jackson cancels Japanese tour dates
US singer Janet Jackson, 42, has postponed her tour of Japan citing the global economic downturn as the main reason, it has emerged.

Kyodo Yokohama, the Japanese concert promoter, said Jackson had pulled out of five scheduled shows which were due take place in February.

The Grammy Award winning artist was due to perform at several big cities in the country, including Nagoya and Osaka.

In 2008, she cancelled several US dates on her first world tour in almost seven years because of an attack of vertigo, reports the BBC.

She recently stopped off in the UK where she was supporting her old sister LaToya who was a contestant in the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother on Channel 4.

Jackson first hit the album charts with her self-titled release in 1982. Her most recent album, entitled Discipline, was released last year. ADNFCR-1445-ID-18992012-ADNFCR
